Massage Therapy
Benefits of Massage Therapy
The benefits of massage therapy are many — reduced stress, less pain from headaches and fibromyalgia, improved sleep, reduced symptoms from multiple sclerosis, depression, and anxiety, lowered blood pressure, improved concentration and energy, better lung function in asthmatics, enhanced clarity of thinking, improved symptoms of PMS, and less discomfort from musculoskeletal disorders and arthritis. Many people feel a deep sense of calm after a therapeutic massage treatment.
Research continues to reveal the many benefits of touch and body-work therapies. The therapeutic spectrum includes treating chronic diseases, neurological disorders and injuries, helping cancer patients, and reducing the stresses of modern life. Massage is becoming an integral part of health care, with many hospitals including it as part of their neonatal, hospice, and post-surgery programs.
The IMGI is fortunate to have Cherie Rife, licensed medical massage therapist, on our staff. She is skilled in many forms of massage and has been described as having “magic hands.” She works individually with each patient to develop the specific program of massage best suited to that person’s needs.
