The roots of the Integrative Medical Group of Irvine were in gynecology, which remains a vital component of the practice.
Dr. Felice Gersh recognized early on that treating gynecological problems properly required an in-depth understanding of the entire body; organs work in concert with other organs and do not exist in isolation.
Proper resolution of female reproductive organ dysfunction required that Dr. Gersh gain expertise in endocrinology and internal medicine. To complement her skills, she added specialists.
Dr. Gersh developed comprehensive programs to treat fibroids, endometriosis, menstrual disorders, vaginitis, bladder disorders, pelvic pain, vulvodynia and vulvar diseases, infertility, and menopause.
As time passed it became evident that conventional medicine was inadequate to heal most problems, as it primarily addressed symptoms, ignoring underlying issues.
Getting to the root causes of illness required a comprehensive holistic approach, including Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, and nutrition. With time, naturopathy, homeopathy, therapeutic massage, and aromatherapy, were added.
As many women have important men in their lives, it became important to keep those men healthy; hence, we began treating men.
Finally, in January 2011, in celebration and recognition of that fact and that we are an integrative medical practice, our name was changed to Integrative Medical Group of Irvine.
